"A Very Old Song (In His Own Words)" lyrics - AVATAR

AVATAR
"A Very Old Song (In His Own Words)"

As if struck by lightning and lungs filled with thunder
Back was the sense of rage and of wonder
Owl took off knowing what she must do
"Be warned Eagle foe, I'm coming for you!"

A large bear was wandering through the red fields of death
When he stopped for some water, catching his breath
He heard the wind talking so he listened for more
And he answered with power as he let out his roar

"You say I shall witness the turn of the tide
The final defeat of the moon and her bride?
Oh dear wind you're ancient, but never stay long
If you did you would know, it's a very old song"

"By all means I'll watch them, I know this old tale
So tell me, is it Wolf? Again he must fail!
But still he believes that we all just must try...
Maybe then this time, the poor fool can die"

Eagle sat lonesome on top of a throne
Made out of old bones upon a great stone
He followed the shadows cast down by the moon
Knowing the morning would come now... real soon

Nothing could stop it, he knew he'd done good
"This is all mine as I knew that it would"
But suddenly silence, louder than storm...
Up there in the sky a familiar form

Owl came crashing down right on his head
And said "this will not end before one of us is dead!
Show me your worst! We'll see who's the best!
I swear on the moon I'll rip the heart out of your chest!"

They tumbled and fell and soon hit the ground
Eagle was laughing. It was the most terrible sound

"You can't stop the sunrise and you cannot stop me!
Poor little Owl, but soon you'll be free!"

"I'll free you from pain by making sure I cut deep
Just one more swift cut and soon after you'll sleep!"
Eagle tossed Owl away, he was awfully strong
He had the advantage, but not for too long

Wolf came out charging with full force and rage!
He screamed "this epic battle is the last of this age!
It's the end of an era and all I hold true
And by my last breath it's the end of you too!"

This was what Wolf had lived for since ages:
One glorious battle just as his heart rages!
A warrior craves war like the thirsty crave water
Called by the gods to partake in the slaughter

He did not believe that there had to be reason
In fighting at all, but if you fled it was treason
He had longed for a fight he found worthy to die for
And as Eagle came he knew he'd be no more
