"The Star From Denver" lyrics - GEORGE MCANTHONY

GEORGE MCANTHONY
"The Star From Denver"
(G. McAnthony)

"on 12 October 1997 John Denver died in a tragic aircrash.

I grew up with his music and this has greatly influenced me. Some years ago I had the great honour of meeting John personally and I like to dedicate this song to him.

I have recorded his hit Thank God I'm a Country Boy which we sang together during a concert in '92."

I ride the midnight train, the blue moon is on the rise / calling a friend, flown up to paradise / the Star from Denver

You gave hope to the people / we won't forget it, goodbye John / fly away like an eagle, six white horses gonna take you home

Now you play in a band with Elvis, Freddie and John Lennon / with clapping hands of Mother Theresa and Lady Diana / the Star from Denver / and the band plays

"New American hero for our generation", Frankie Boy was right as he could be / it ain't over yet, you gotta new vocation, please tell me John now what do you see

With emotional truth and simple songs you've changed the world / with your voice so clean, and so much energy in every word / the Star from Denver, goodbye John / the Star from Denver, they're gonna take you home
